The Brief
A commercial client approached Loughton Direct after their timber floor began to show clear signs of wear in high-traffic areas. The existing finish had deteriorated over time due to daily footfall and a lack of routine maintenance, leaving the floor scratched, tired, and increasingly difficult to manage.
The client required a solution that would restore the look of the timber and its durability, while keeping disruption to a minimum.
Following an initial site visit, it was clear that a full sand and refinish would be needed to address the floor and give the client the desired outcome. The existing oiled finish was no longer protecting the floor as expected, and had began to break down unevenly across the floor space.
Loughton Direct carefully sanded the timber floor to remove surface damage and the remaining oil finish, creating a clean and even base. A clear lacquer coat was then applied, providing a more hard-wearing finish better suited for a busy commercial environment.
This new lacquered floor will benefit from increased durability and be easier to care for as part of an ongoing maintenance programme with Loughton Direct. All works were completed over a weekend to ensure the building was fully operational during the week with zero disturbance.
Alongside the visual upgrade, the new lacquered finish provides enhanced durability and protection against the extreme footfall. We look forward to carrying out our biannual maintenance visits to keep the floor looking and performing at its peak well into the future.
