The Brief
A premium client at Battersea Power Station approached LD to restore a herringbone timber in an events space that had become scratched and tired through regular use. While the floor remained structurally sound, its appearance no longer reflected the quality of the surrounding environment.
The client requested a solution that would refresh the floor visually while protecting the timber and extending its service life.

Loughton Direct assessed the existing timber floor
and confirmed that full replacement was not needed.
Instead, a sand and seal was recommended as a practical,
cost-effective way to restore the space.

By refurbishing the original floor, the client was able to retain the existing herringbone pattern while avoiding the cost and disruption of a full uplift and reinstall. The timber was sanded throughout to remove surface wear and scratches, creating a clean, even base.
Two coats of oil were then applied to protect the floor and bring out the natural variation and character of the timber. The result is a refreshed herringbone floor that improves the overall appearance of the events space while helping to extend the life of the existing installation
