The Brief
A banking client got into contact with LD after ongoing water damage began affecting two tea point areas. Faulty glass washers meant that water penetrated the floor build-up, causing harm to the existing finishes and concerns with hygiene and performance.
The client needed a robust solution, that would fix the immediate issue and reduce the risk of any future water issues, with all works delivered outside of normal working hours.

Following an initial inspection, it as clear that water ingress had affected the full floor build up. The existing rubber flooring, acoustic underlay and plywood subfloor had all soaked in moisture, causing the ply to break down. A full uplift of the area was required.
We carefully removed the existing floor finishes, including the water-damaged plywood and underlay, before preparing the subfloor ahead of the new install. Nora Unita was laid over Peri marine underlay and an acoustic regupol to maintain comfort underfoot, but most importantly increase the integrity.

To ensure the new floor was suitably protected against any future moisture, a two-part waterproof adhesive system was used, and all seams were hot welded. This created a sealed, resistant surface designed specifically for wet environments. All works were completed over a weekend to minimise disruption, and allow staff in the space to work as normal.

The refurbished tea points now benefit from a clean, durable, water-tight finish that meets the clients demands. The new Nora flooring looks great, whilst offering all the protection against moisture that the office needed.

By addressing the root cause of the original failure and upgrading the subfloor with a sealed system, the client can rest easy knowing that the risk of any future issues is significantly reduced.
If your tea point flooring isn’t performing how you want it to, Loughton Direct will have a solution that works for you.
