The Brief
A corporate client approached Loughton Direct after their timber floor had become worn following several years of heavy traffic. The coloured oil finish had worn through in key areas, leaving the surface tired, uneven, and even harder to maintain.
The client required a solution that would restore the appearance of the floor while improving durability and suitability for continued use within a busy commercial environment.

Following an assessment, Loughton Direct confirmed that the timber itself was still in good condition, but the existing finish was no longer suitable. Rather than continuing with an oiled system, a sand and seal approach was recommended to create a more hard-wearing surface and make ongoing maintenance easier.
The floor was fully sanded to remove the worn finish and surface damage before a primer was applied. Two coats of lacquer followed, creating a durable protective finish while keeping the natural colour and grain of the timber visible.

This approach provided a practical upgrade in performance while avoiding the cost and disruption associated with full floor replacement.

The completed works have given the timber floor a cleaner, more consistent finish and improved the overall appearance of the space. By changing the finishing system, the client now benefits from a floor that is easier to maintain, better protected against daily wear and more suited to long-term use in a busy office.
