The Brief

Loughton Direct were approached by a design showroom after several years of wear had left a white-finished timber floor looking tired and uneven. With no routine maintenance carried out over time, and constant use from roller chairs and desk movement, the original finish had worn away completely in places, exposing the natural timber beneath.

The client wanted to restored the floor’s original appearance without replacing it, bringing the space back to a clean and consistent standard that reflects the rest of their showroom.

Loughton Direct carried out a full restoration programme, sanding the floor back to remove the failed finish and prepare the surface for treatment. A white lye was then applied to restore the desired colour, before two coats of oil were added to protect the floor and complete the process.

The completed works transformed the overall appearance of the space, restoring a fresh and even finish while protecting the timber for continued use. The client was very pleased with the final result.
